Overview

Mr. Michaels has over five years of experience in environmental site assessments and remedial investigations. Mr. Michaels has experience with various major oil projects (pipelines and terminals) and retail gasoline stations in Ohio and Michigan. Mr. Michaels has performed numerous Final Assessment and Closure Reports for releases from retail gasoline stations. Mr. Michaels’ current work includes completing assessment and closure reports for LUST sites, addressing regulatory and technical issues related to remedial actions at LUST Clean-up Sites. Mr. Michaels has provided consulting services for all phases of the environmental projects. Responsibilities also include proposal preparation and training of entry level personnel.

Project Specific Experience

Major Petroleum Retailers – Michigan: Project Manager for activities at multiple LUST sites. Project tasks include coordination of field activities, regulatory correspondence, report and budget preparation and review, Tier 1 & 2 RBCA evaluations and Environmental Risk Assessment using USEPA & ASTM Models; conducted environmental site assessments, remedial system design, permitting, feasibility analysis, development and implementation of corrective action plans for remediation of air, water, soil and groundwater, mathematical modeling and cost estimates.

United States Marine Corp Base, Barstow, CA: Project Engineer. Assisted with the research and design of an air treatment system to reduce volatile organic compounds from paint emissions for the USMC. Project tasks included operating the bench scale pilot study by collecting air and water samples, recording and analyzing data, and making modifications/repairs to the system. Based on the results of the bench scale pilot study, assisted with design to scale up the air treatment system.
